If the device is on, turn it off immediately. Do not try to charge it, restart it, or test if it works — this causes more short-circuit damage.
Remove the SIM card, any cases, and for laptops, the battery if accessible. Gently shake out excess water — do not blow into ports.
Avoid hairdryers, ovens, sunlight, or rice. Heat can warp internal components and rice absorbs nothing useful — it wastes time.
